Is changing over to ArchiOffice® hard? What do I do about
my old systems and information?
We expect that there will be a period of time when you will be
spanning your old system and our new one. However, we try to make
this process as easy as possible. You will be able to import your
Contacts and existing Time/Expense slips into ArchiOffice®
from just about any other contact database program. By contacting
Support at Datavations, we can provide an additional service to
bring in your company’s historical data (basic project information
and calendar events). However, we expect most firms will put all
new projects and associated information in ArchiOffice, and keep
their old systems for historical purposes.
For firms that really like to cross their “T’s”
and dot their “I’s”, you can still link old
documents and files in your system to the projects and clients
in ArchiOffice®. While it will take considerable time for
someone to connect everything, it may be valuable to do so for
active projects.
It is even possible for you to continue to use all your old
forms rather than the ones we provide. This way, the people you
do business with will hardly notice that you are managing your
company with new software.
2) Where does data reside that
is created in ArchiOffice®?
Because ArchiOffice is a networked program, the administrator
locates the shared volume where all documents (Templates and Documents),
are to reside. It is important that this volume be visible to
all users on your network.
3) How can I access ArchiOffice®
from a computer anywhere in the world?
If your office has a public IP number, you can share ArchiOffice
in two ways. If the remote user has FileMaker Pro on their computer,
they can locate ArchiOffice with the Public IP (or domain name),
in the Open File dialog box. If you have a web-server, you can
also serve ArchiOffice through FileMaker’s Web enabling
feature or a third party's program. Please contact us if you require
help to share ArchiOffice over the internet.
4) How do I purchase ArchiOffice®?
ArchiOffice® can only be purchased from Datavations (click
here). You can purchase it directly through the website with
a credit card or download a form and send a check. Datavations
will ship you the software CD upon receiving payment.
We highly recommend you purchase our annual service and support
agreement as well. This will give you tech-support beyond the
first 90 days, as well as full access to the extranet site, notifications
regarding updates and upgrades and much more.
