Overview Features Comparison Clients Requirements

Users can connect to a GO-Global Server from any computer that supports a GO-Global client. The following clients are available:

  • Java Client. The Java Client is available to Windows, Macintosh, OS/2, and Linux users. When running from a browser, users launch GO-Global by browsing to an HTML page containing the Java applet. The browser automatically downloads the GO-Global Client classes and launches the applet.
  • Netscape Plug-in. The Netscape Plug-in lets users connect to a GO-Global Server using Netscape Navigator. To connect to a GO-Global Server, users simply browse to an HTML page that contains a link to the Plug-in. If the Plug-in is already installed on the client machine, it is automatically loaded and run by the browser. Otherwise, users are prompted to download the Plug-in and install it on the desktop computer. The Netscape Plug-in is available for Windows and Linux clients.
  • Microsoft ActiveX Control. The Microsoft ActiveX Control is available to Windows users running Internet Explorer. The ActiveX Control is automatically installed the first time a user accesses the HTML page containing the ActiveX Control.
  • Windows Client. The Windows Client is a 32-bit Windows application that can be installed and run on most Windows computers. It is extremely fast and the best way to run ArchiOffice from a Windows workstation.
  • Windows CE Client. The Windows CE Client is a lightweight application that provides seamless integration with the native device's environment. Windows CE users can run GO-Global from the Start menu, a desktop shortcut, or directly from the GO-Global executable. Keep in mind that ArchiOffice is not optimized for Windows CE devices, so it is not really intended to be accessed using this client (depending on the device, you may be doing a lot of scrolling; ArchiOffice is 800x600).
  • Linux Client. The Linux Client is a lightweight native X Window Systems application that delivers excellent performance to Linux clients. It is extremely fast and the best way to run ArchiOffice from a Linux workstation.
  • Macintosh Client. The Macintosh Client is a lightweight X based application that provides seamless integration with the native Macintosh environment. It is extremely fast and the best way to run ArchiOffice from a Macintosh workstation.

GO-Global is an add-on product for ArchiOffice and must be purchased separately. GO-Global is sold as a floating license (like ArchiOffice), which means if you purchase two licenses, then two remote users could connect at the same time. Keep in mind that remote users are part of the network and require ArchiOffice licenses.
